6€Julho é de Jazz: Vijay Iyer TrioThe first concert of Julho é de Jazz takes place on the main stage of the Theatro Circo and features the Vijay Iyer Trio, opening the doors to the best jazz in the world.
The American pianist and composer has carved out a unique path with an influential presence in the music of this century, with acclaimed albums such as Historicity (2010) and Accelerando (2012), both on the ACT label, and Break Stuff (2015) and Uneasy (2021) on the famous ECM Records. His language, deeply interactive and expressive, draws from legends such as Thelonious Monk and Geri Allen, and breathes the rhythmic traditions of South Asia and West Africa. In addition to his work with the Julho é de Jazz trio, he composes for orchestras, soloists and chamber ensembles, and regularly collaborates with filmmakers, choreographers and other musicians. But Vijay Iyer's art finds its purest expression through this changing line-up, continually praised by critics, which over the years has welcomed an enviable catalog of bassists and drummers who not only challenge the old categories of the genre, but create entirely new ones. At Theatro Circo, Vijay Iyer shares the stage with Jeremy Dutton on drums and Harish Raghavan on double bass.
