10€Swans + Maria W HornThis is Swans' first concert in Portugal since the release of their latest album, The Beggar. Anyone who has seen the band live knows that no two concerts are the same, and never anticipate what to expect from the quintet formed by musician Michael Gira in 1982. Known as one of the most intense and powerful bands on stage, with high levels of decibels, Michael Gira and his troupe arrive in Braga with their 16th album of originals, but most likely with incursions into the album Leaving Meaning which, due to the pandemic, didn't get the airplay that Michael Gira imagined it would. The Beggar was written and produced by the leader of Swans, with support from former and current members of the band, another music group, Angels of Light, as well as Ben Frost, and with backing vocals from Jennifer Gira, Lucy Kruger and Laura Carbone.
The Swans will be represented in Braga by musicians Kristof Hahn (Les Hommes Sauvages), Larry Mullins (Iggy Pop, The Stooges, The Bad Seeds), Dana Schechter (Beeand Flower), Christopher Pravdica (Xiu Xiu, YonatanGat), and Michael Gira. The evening will also feature another star: Maria W Horn. The Swedish artist is the band's special guest and will have the opportunity to showcase some of her creations, including Kontrapoetik (2018), Vita Duvans Lament (2020) and Dies Irae (2021).
