It is a dance piece that explores and intersects the themes of memory, gender identity and feminism, through the lens of a group of co-creators and researchers. Inspired by the life story of Clementine Delait (the bearded woman) and by Megan Terry's play “Calm Down Mother”, the group of artists traced paths through the complexities of women, addressing the pressures, fears and joys that accompany their papers. The play navigates the emotional landscape of motherhood, challenging stereotypes and expectations associated with gender roles. Drawing on the personal experiences and heartfelt stories of women around the world, Companhia de Dança Arte Total weaves a powerful narrative that is at the same time universal and deeply personal at the same time.
