A young man, involved in scams, in debt and persecuted, poses as a smuggler to exploit the group who, like him, but for different reasons, cross the border by jumping. After a police chase, a tragic car accident ends up putting those who trusted his word at risk. Seriously injured and caught up in a police search, they will have to make difficult choices about who goes ahead and who stays behind.
O Salto is an original research and dramaturgical project about Portuguese emigration in the 1960s and 1970s, which aims to lift the veil on a period of recent history that remains taboo - because of the misery and obscurantism in which it was lived, because of the oppression of the dictatorship or because it invokes the dissident theme of desertion to the colonial war. A drama inspired by real testimonies to record and deconstruct living memories of Portuguese history and build a tragic limit situation, which pushes the characters, in their struggle for better living conditions, to face death itself and reveal the deepest contradictions of human nature.Original text and staging Tiago Correia
