A sensational story! In it, Saramago becomes a character and tells us that he always wanted to write a children’s book about a boy who creates the biggest tree in the  world, According to him, if the story had been put to paper “would have been the most beautiful of all that had been written since the days of fairy tales and enchanted princesses”.
